How to use LifeSugar, step by step
Everything the app does, in the order you'll use it: from opening it for the first time to sharing your diary with your doctor or nurse.
Each chapter shows the app in action, step by step. It plays on its own, and you can pause it or jump to any step you like. The app is on Android.

Choose where to start
Chapter 1 · Getting started
How to start using LifeSugar
You sign in with your Google account, confirm your phone and tell the app just enough for its numbers to be yours. It takes a few minutes.
1.Take the tour, or skip it
The first time you open the app, nine screens show you what it does. If you're in a hurry, tap Skip.
Chapter 2 · Glucy: photo of your plate
How to count the carbs on a plate with a photo
Glucy looks at the photo of your plate and gives you its carbs in grams and in portions. There are two ways to do it, with the same Glucy and the same result: from the Food basket, the quickest, or from her chat. Choose one and see how it's done.
1.Open the basket
In the Food tab, tap Basket, at the bottom. That's where you put together everything you're going to eat.
Chapter 3 · Food
How to search for a food or scan a package
In the Food tab you search for a food, scan its package or create it —by hand or from a photo, with Glucy—, and put it together in the basket to move it to your diary.
1.Search for a food
In the Food tab, type in Search for a food. Your favourites come up first, then Your foods and after that the database.
Chapter 4 · Your diary
How to log your glucose, your insulin and your meals
The diary is the first tab: your day sorted into time bands, with your glucose, food, insulin and exercise all in the same place.
1.Your day, at a glance
At the top, your average glucose, your estimated HbA1c and today's insulin. Underneath, each entry in its time band: morning, midday, afternoon and night.
Chapter 5 · Glucy: ask her
What you can ask Glucy, and what she won't tell you
Glucy is the app's assistant. As well as analysing photos, she answers questions about food and diabetes and estimates what you tell her you've eaten.
1.Ask her a question
Type or dictate with the microphone. She answers calmly and briefly: what a portion is, what's in a dish, how to read a label.
Chapter 6 · Your doctor or nurse
How to share your diary with your doctor or nurse
Your doctor or nurse doesn't use the app: they log in to a web dashboard where they see your diary laid out. You give them access, with their email, and you can take it away whenever you like.
1.Open Settings → Personal data
It's the fourth tab. Under Profile and health, tap Personal data.
Chapter 7 · Account and Prime
How to manage your subscription and your account
LifeSugar has a single plan, Prime, with a 14-day trial. Everything about your subscription and your account is in Settings.
1.Look at your subscription
At the top of Settings, the You're Prime card. Tap it to see your subscription.
