Privacy Policy

In the event of any discrepancy between versions, the Spanish version prevails.

This is the privacy policy of the LifeSugar website (lifesugarcare.com). It explains what data Lifesugarcare, S.L. processes when you visit it, join the waitlist or write to us, what for, for how long and who we share it with. What the app does with your data is explained in the app's own policy (section 9).

The essentials in one minute

  • Who: Lifesugarcare, S.L. You can write to us at info@lifesugarcare.com.
  • What we collect on the website: your email if you join the waitlist, the comment if you fill in the form for professionals, and technical connection data. Nothing else, apart from measurement cookies if you accept.
  • Cookies: measurement only (Google Analytics and Meta), and only if you accept them. If you reject them or don't respond, nothing from Google or Meta is loaded, except the YouTube video on the home page if you choose to play it.
  • We don't sell your data or transfer it for commercial purposes.
  • We don't send health data to Google or Meta.
  • Your rights: to access, rectify, erase, object and withdraw your consent whenever you like, by writing to info@lifesugarcare.com. And to complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, aepd.es).

1. Who is the controller

The data controller is Lifesugarcare, S.L. (hereinafter “LifeSugar” or “we”), with tax ID (NIF) in progress, registered office at Calle Ciudad de Columbia 30, 28760 Tres Cantos (Madrid) and Commercial Register (Registro Mercantil) registration in progress.

Privacy contact: info@lifesugarcare.com

  • Data Protection Officer: we have not appointed one because, for now, the processing does not reach the “large scale” required by art. 37.1.c of the GDPR (RGPD in Spanish). We will review this decision as the project grows.
  • Change of controller (October 2026): until this version, the processing was carried out by the project's founders. With the incorporation of the company, the controller becomes Lifesugarcare, S.L. The data does not change purpose or providers for this reason.

2. What data we process on this website

  • Waitlist: your email and whatever you choose to write in the Google Forms form when you sign up. We use it only to let you know about the launch of the app. The form opens in another tab, on Google.
  • Form for healthcare professionals (shared diary guide): the areas you tick, your rating and a comment of up to 500 characters. We don't ask for or store your name, email or IP address. There is a box asking you to confirm that you haven't written any patient's data: if you write it in the comment, we would have it unintentionally, so please don't.
  • If you write to us at info@lifesugarcare.com: your email and whatever you say in the message, so we can reply.
  • Connection to the website: when you visit it, our hosting provider (Vercel) processes technical connection data, such as the IP address and the browser, to deliver the pages to you and to protect the service from attacks and automated submissions.
  • Measurement cookies (only if you accept): Google Analytics and Meta Pixel. We describe them in section 7.

3. What we use your data for and on what legal basis

Each use has a specific purpose and a legal basis:

PurposeLegal basis
Waitlist: letting you know about the launch of the app.Consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR). You can withdraw it whenever you like.
Form for professionals: improving the shared diary dashboard with their comments.Legitimate interest (art. 6.1.f) in improving the dashboard, with data that does not identify you.
Replying to your messages when you write to us.Legitimate interest (art. 6.1.f) in dealing with your enquiry and, if you ask for something specific, pre-contractual measures at your request (art. 6.1.b).
Serving the website and protecting it (hosting, anti-spam).Legitimate interest (art. 6.1.f) in the website working and being secure.
Website analytics and ad measurement: knowing which pages are visited and which ads, leaflets or QR codes bring visits and waitlist sign-ups.Consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR and art. 22.2 of the Spanish Information Society Services Act, LSSI). It is only activated if you accept, and you can withdraw it whenever you like.

4. Who we share your data with

We don't sell your data. For this website we use these providers, who process data on our behalf (data processors), under a processing agreement:

  • Google Forms (Google): collects the waitlist sign-ups.
  • Vercel Inc.: hosts the website and filters automated submissions on the professionals' form (Vercel BotID).
  • Google Cloud (BigQuery): stores the comments from the professionals' form.
  • Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager (Google Ireland Limited) and Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited): measurement of visits and ads, only if you accept cookies. Google acts on our behalf. Meta processes the browsing data it receives through its pixel according to its own privacy policy. We send neither of them any health data.
  • YouTube (Google Ireland Limited): plays the video on the home page, only if you click to watch it. Until then, nothing is requested from it. We use its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), but when you play the video, Google receives your IP address and data about your browser and may store cookies, according to its own privacy policy.
  • We may also disclose data to authorities, judges and courts when the law requires us to.

5. Transfers outside the European Union

Google, Meta and Vercel may process browsing data outside the European Economic Area, in particular in the US. They do so under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards by writing to info@lifesugarcare.com.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep your data only for as long as necessary for each purpose:

  • Waitlist: until we let you know about the launch and, at most, 12 months afterwards, or until you withdraw your consent.
  • Comments from the professionals' form: 24 months.
  • Messages you send us: as long as necessary to deal with you and, afterwards, for the limitation period of possible liabilities.
  • Website analytics: 14 months. The duration of each cookie is in section 7.
  • Technical connection logs: for as long as Vercel keeps them under its policy, which is limited.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file that your browser stores when you visit a website. On this website we only use measurement cookies, and only if you accept them. We ask you when you arrive. If you reject them or don't respond, nothing from Google or Meta is loaded and the website works just the same. The only exception is the YouTube video on the home page: it only loads if you click to play it. You can change your decision whenever you like from “Manage cookies”, in the footer. Rejecting is as easy as accepting.

  • Your choice (necessary): “lsg-consent”, in your browser's local storage. It remembers whether you accepted or rejected so we don't ask you again. It doesn't identify you and isn't shared. It lasts until you change your decision or clear your browser data.
  • Measurement, Google Analytics 4 (Google): “_ga” and “_ga_*”. They distinguish visitors and count visits, page views and where they come from. They last up to 2 years.
  • Advertising, Meta Pixel (Meta): “_fbp” and “_fbc”. They tell us whether a person who arrived from a Facebook or Instagram ad joins the waitlist, so we know which ads work. They last up to 90 days.
  • YouTube video (Google), only if you play it: when you click the video on the home page, YouTube may store cookies or data in your browser to play it, remember your preferences and measure views. We use its privacy-enhanced mode, which reduces cookies but doesn't eliminate them. If you don't click, nothing is stored.
  • Links with tags: if you arrive from an ad, a leaflet or a QR code, the address may include tags (“utm_source”, “utm_campaign”…) that indicate which one it was. They only identify the origin of the link, not you.
  • What we don't do: we don't send Google or Meta any health data, or anything you write in forms, and we don't identify you by your name or your email.
  • How to change or withdraw your decision: with “Manage cookies” in the footer. You can also delete cookies from your browser settings.

8. Your rights

You can exercise them by writing to info@lifesugarcare.com. We will reply within one month at most (extendable by two more months if the request is complex, and we will let you know), and it is free. To protect you, we may ask you to confirm your identity.

  • Access: knowing what data we hold about you and receiving a copy.
  • Rectification: correcting anything inaccurate.
  • Erasure: having us delete your data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Objection: having us stop processing data based on our legitimate interest.
  • Restriction: having us keep it but not use it while a complaint is being resolved.
  • Portability: receiving your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Withdrawing your consent at any time, without affecting what happened before. For the waitlist, write to us and we will remove you. For cookies, from “Manage cookies”.
  • Complaining to the supervisory authority: the Spanish Data Protection Agency (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, aepd.es, C/ Jorge Juan 6, 28001 Madrid), if you think we haven't done things properly. We would appreciate it if you gave us the chance to resolve it first.

9. The LifeSugar app

This policy is only for the website. The LifeSugar app processes other data (your account, your health diary, the photos of your plates, the conversations with the assistant) with its own purposes and safeguards, which are explained in the privacy policy of the app itself, available in its Settings. If you have questions about what data the app processes, write to us at info@lifesugarcare.com.

10. How to delete your app account

You can delete your LifeSugar account whenever you like, without giving reasons.

  • From the app (the quickest): open Settings and tap “Delete account”. We ask you to confirm your identity with your Google account and with the code we send you by SMS.
  • Without access to the app: write to us at info@lifesugarcare.com and we will handle it for you.
  • Deleted immediately from the app: your sign-in account, your profile, your diary, your favourites, menus and own foods, your achievements and the record of your subscription.
  • Deleted later, within 30 days at most of your cancellation: the copies of your diary and profile in our internal analytics, your conversations with the assistant (including its memory and sessions) and quality-evaluation data. This deletion is not instant: we do it ourselves.
  • Kept, in a limited way: invoicing (because of a legal obligation), a pseudonymised note that the cancellation took place and the record of your doctor's access, and technical logs until they expire.
  • Your subscription: deleting the account does not by itself cancel the Google Play charge. Cancel it from Google Play too.

11. Minors

This website is not aimed at children under 14, which is the age from which Spanish law allows people to consent on their own to the processing of their data. If you are under 14, you need your mother, father or guardian to join the waitlist for you. If you think a minor has given us data without their guardian's permission, write to us at info@lifesugarcare.com and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change anything material —who the controller is, what we use your data for or who we share it with— we will let you know before it takes effect, and not just by updating this page. The date of the latest version is always at the top. You can ask us for previous versions by writing to info@lifesugarcare.com.

13. Contact

For any question about your data or to exercise your rights, write to us at info@lifesugarcare.com. We undertake to reply within the period set by law.
